AJ's Pit Bar-B-Q
Opened in 2010 (in Chicago) as a small take-out BBQ Joint, husband and wife team Jared and Amanda Leonard had a dream. They wanted to pair Amanda's love for hospitality and event planning with Jared's love for American BBQ.
8 years later, BBQ Supply Co. has grown into 7 full service restaurants in 2 states (IL and CO), BBQ catering company, BBQ training center, and full-service event production company. We recently expanded to the Denver to launch AJ's Pit Bar-B-Q.
Denver BBQ fans have been lining up on Saturdays and Sundays at 2180 S. Delaware Street for their fresh-from-the-pit smoked offerings. In making the decision to expand operations to 7-days a week, owners Jared and Amanda Leonard took a hard look at the name and the market. “The name BBQ Supply is mistaken too often for a store, not a restaurant, and we don’t do classes here (yet) or have the retail store - so we’re looking for a new brand as we launch our first full service restaurant here in Denver. AJ’s Pit Bar-B-Q is a classic Texas style Bar-B-Q joint, and a culmination of Jared’s love for wood-fired cooking combined with Amanda’s love for hospitality” says Leonard.
The expanded menu includes beef ribs (a rarity in Denver), Waygu pastrami, Waygu brisket, pulled pork, dry-rub ribs, smoked turkey, smoked sausage, and smoked chickens and will be accompanied by sides such as truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, custard-filled cornbread, and ham-hock braised collards. Leonard, who also owns The Budlong Hot Chicken food truck has added their signature Hot Chicken Sandwich with Mississippi Comeback Sauce to the AJ’s Bar-B-Q menu.
On Saturday, January 26th, beginning at 11am, the 1,000 gallon Camelback smoker will start spitting out its 100% Post oak smoked delicacies. AJ’s Bar-B-Q will also offer 5 rotating local craft beers, an assortment of whiskeys, and two signature barrel aged cocktails. An outdoor patio is planned for late, making this the perfect stop (across from the West Evans RTD station) for a post-work gathering of friends.
